Adding a Custom Domain Name to your Account

Ready to add a custom domain name to your LookTiny account? If so, you are in the right place. This is a technical guide to help walk you through the process of integrating your own custom domain name(s) with our platform. The benefits here are important as it reinforces your brand, completely hides our platform from your end users, increases your click through rates, and can make your links even more user friendly and recognizable.

Adding a New Domain Name

1. Step One: you will need to login to your domain name registrar account to update the configuration settings for the affected domain name(s) you would like to add to our platform. Our platform also supports sub domains as well.
   
   If you do not have a domain and/or domain registrar that you use this is a requirement to continue. Any domain name registrar of your choice will work. Click here to search for your own domain name with our recommended provider.
   
   
2. Step Two: Once you are logged in to your registrar account and have identified the domain name you would like to point to our service you will need to add an A-record (see below) to point to our servers. This allows our service to control and customize your account for use with your custom domain name.

   Once you have configured your domain name as noted above and saved your changes it may take up to 24 hours for these changes to propagate. Our system will need to confirm that the changes are correct and in place before allowing you to add the domain name to your account.

3. Step Three: Once your domain name is configured, propagated, and pointed to our services the final step is to add your domain name to your account. Once added, it will be available immediately for use on your account for new short link and QR code creation.

Setting Custom Domain Redirects
While adding a custom domain name to your account, you have the option of setting custom index and 404 redirect pages (paid plans only). On free plans, users will be automatically redirected back to the LookTiny website with a message letting them know the link is not valid. On paid plans, you can add a custom URL for both index and 404 requests. Simply add the full URL you would like our system to redirect your users to and we will handle the rest automatically.

• Custom Index: if your domain name is accessed directly with no specific link (i.e. - mybrand.com)
• Custom 404: if your domain name is accessed via a link (i.e. - mybrand.com/404) that is not defined within our platform
